Eye-Catching Small Business Sandwich Board DIY

When you're just starting out as a business, one of the biggest challenges is getting your name and information out there for potential customers to see. Here's one way I’m facing the issue in an eye-catching way.

There’s always business cards and social media but I wanted to create a sort of entry for guests that also let others know the deal.

I was itching to get started, feeling oh-so-motivated. I already had a couple tables in the works at home so I asked another small business to build me a sandwich board. At the time Pretty Pretty still did not have a name, let alone a logo, so I just requested hardware and stain colors. I asked that the wood not be sealed yet so that I could add to it later on.

I knew I wanted the sign to look sophisticated, professional, and on brand.

I didn't want to commit to permanent branding just yet. I'm all about being open to change in the early stages. I grabbed some white permanent vinyl and fired up my Cricut machine to create some sharp and eye-catching lettering for the sign.

My sign also has a fun little box on the front. I had seen these on a few wedding signs and thought it would be perfect for a picnic business. On one side, I made sure to display my social media handles and all the vital info for booking my picnic services. And on the flip side, I asked that current picnic clients not to be disturbed. I have had interested people come right up and chat about what I am doing when setting up and wouldn’t want anyone picnic-ing to feel like they need to answer questions during their relaxation time.

As if that wasn't cool enough, I decided to dip my toes into the world of tech-savvy marketing. I introduced the Dot.thin – a tiny device that I placed strategically on the corner of the sign. This way, anyone passing by can simply tap it and instantly add my business information to their phone. It's like a bridge between the physical and digital worlds.

The final result ended up being a beautifully designed sign that's not just a promotion tool but also an essential part of my business’ vibe.
